Long Sends Message To Accusers During Easter Sermon

Bishop Eddie Long delivered several sermons to his congregation on Easter Sunday, avoiding any mention of the lawsuit against him or any possible settlement in the sex scandal rocking New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
Throughout his sermons he appeared to have a cryptic message for his accusers. “You ain't messin’ with me. I shall rise again and I ain't going through this,” Long said.
His sermon comes just days after Channel 2 Action News learned the embattled megachurch pastor was close to reaching a settlement with four former church members who accused him of using his spiritual powers to engage in sexual activity.
Long never directly addressed the lawsuit or any possible settlement. Instead, he imparted apparent cryptic commentary about his accusers.
“You have to go down there and let the devil know that what they thought was gonna kill you, didn't kill you. What they thought was gonna bring terror to you, didn't bring terror to you and you made the enemies public spectacle,” Long said during one sermon.
On Friday, Dekalb County Magistrate Judge Johnny Panos told our Channel 2’s Tom Jones he jump started mediation between Long and the accusers and that they were close to an agreement.
“Why wait to the summer? Why wait to the fall? Get it done now and what better time to do it that,” Panos said.
Outside the church New Birth members told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik they want to put the suit behind them.
Petchenik: "Are you relieved the lawsuit will be over with the Bishop."
Church Member: "I am."

Apple slammed over iPhone, iPad location tracking

 Photobucket
Privacy watchdogs are demanding answers from Apple Inc. about why iPhones and iPads are secretly collecting location data on users — records that cellular service providers routinely keep but require a court order to disgorge.
It's not clear if other smartphones and tablet computers are logging such information on their users. And this week's revelation that the Apple devices do wasn't even new — some security experts began warning about the issue a year ago.
But the worry prompted by a report from researchers Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden at a technology conference in Santa Clara, Calif., raises questions about how much privacy you implicitly surrender by carrying around a smartphone and the responsibility of the smartphone makers to protect sensitive data that flows through their devices.
Much of the concern about the iPhone and iPad tracking stems from the fact the computers are logging users' physical coordinates without users knowing it — and that that information is then stored in an unencrypted form that would be easy for a hacker or a suspicious spouse or a law enforcement officer to find without a warrant.
Researchers emphasize that there's no evidence that Apple itself has access to this data. The data apparently stays on the device itself, and computers the data is backed up to. Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by The Associated Press.
Tracking is a normal part of owning a cellphone. What's done with that data, though, is where the controversy lies.
A central question in this controversy is whether a smartphone should act merely as a conduit of location data to service providers and approved applications — or as a more active participant by storing the data itself, to make location-based applications run more smoothly or help better target mobile ads or any number of other uses.
Location data is some of the most valuable information a mobile phone can provide, since it can tell advertisers not only where someone's been, but also where they might be going — and what they might be inclined to buy when they get there.
Allan and Warden said the location coordinates and time stamps in the Apple devices aren't always exact, but appear in a file that typically contains about a year's worth of data that when taken together provide a detailed view of users' travels.
"We're not sure why Apple is gathering this data, but it's clearly intentional, as the database is being restored across backups, and even device migrations," they wrote in a blog posting announcing the research.
Allan said in an email to the AP that he and Warden haven't looked at how other smartphones behave in this regard, but added there's suspicion that phones that run Google Inc.'s Android software might behave in a similar way and is being investigated.
Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Alex Levinson, a security expert, said the tracking Apple's devices do isn't new — or a surprise to those in the computer forensics community.
The Apple devices have been retaining the information for some time, but it was kept in a different form until the release of the iOS 4 operating software last year, Levinson, technical lead for the Katana Forensics firm, wrote on his blog.
Through his work with law enforcement agencies, Levinson said he was able to access the location data in older iPhones and warned about the issue over a year ago. The location data is now easier to find because of a change in the way iPhone applications access the data, he said.
"Either way, it is not secret, malicious, or hidden," Levinson wrote. "Users still have to approve location access to any application and have the ability to instantly turn off location services to applications inside the settings menu on their device."
The existence of the location-data file on the phone is alarming because it's unencrypted, the researchers said, which means that anyone with access to the device can see it.
Charlie Miller, a prominent iPhone hacker, said a security change that Apple made last month would make extracting the file from the phone in a remote attack very difficult. Even if an attacker were to break into someone's phone looking for the file, he wouldn't have the right privileges to access the file.
The data is "pretty well-protected on the phone," Miller, principal security analyst with Independent Security Evaluators, said in an interview.
"On the phone, they take a lot of precautions." He said. "It's sort of frightening in the sense that it's there, and it's full of information about where you've been, but the good news is it's not easy to get to."
But it's a different matter when the data is transferred to another computer in a backup. If the backup computer is infected with malicious software, the file could easily be located and sent to the hacker. A way to protect against that is to encrypt the iPhone backup through iTunes, the researchers said.
The issue has prompted several members of Congress to write letters to Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., to answer questions about the practice.
Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., said it raises "serious privacy concerns," especially for children using the devices, since "anyone who gains access to this single file could likely determine the location of a user's home, the businesses he frequents, the doctors he visits, the schools his children attend, and the trips he has taken — over the past months or even a year."
Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., questioned whether the practice may be illegal under a federal law governing the use of location information for commercial purposes, if consumers weren't properly informed.
"Apple needs to safeguard the personal location information of its users to ensure that an iPhone doesn't become an iTrack," he said in a statement. "Collecting, storing and disclosing a consumer's location for commercial purposes without their express permission is unacceptable and would violate current law."
Apple shares rose $9.20, or 2.7 percent, to $351.71 on the strength of the company's latest quarterly financial results, which showed Apple's net income nearly doubled, in large part on strength of iPhone sales. -KING-

Teen April Kuchta charged as adult in sex attack on disabled boy

Photobucket

VALPARAISO, Ind. - April Kuchta, the older of two girls who allegedly held an Indiana boy against his will and sexually assaulted him, will be tried as an adult.

The prosecutor's office filed four felony charges and one misdemeanor Monday against the 16-year-old, reports CBS station WBBM.

The highest level felony Kuchta was charged with - Class A criminal deviate conduct - carries a sentence of between 20 and 50 years, reports the station.

The other felony charges against Kuchta include criminal confinement, sexual battery and intimidation, and misdemeanor battery, the station reports.

The other girl involved, a 14-year-old, was not waived to adult court from juvenile court, but she is charged with felony confinement and intimidation as well as misdemeanor battery, according to WBBM.

The incident allegedly occurred on April 9 when Kuchta and the other girl repeatedly texted a developmentally disabled 17-year-old to come to Kuchta's home. They held the boy at knifepoint and handcuffed him, poking him repeatedly with the knife, according to court records.

He told police that they recorded him on a cell phone doing and saying things against his will and Kuchta touched him sexually. After leaving him handcuffed and covered with a blanket for two hours, the girls allegedly invited others over to witness the incident, the station reports.

The others twice freed him, but Kuchta allegedly threatened him with the knife to get back into handcuffs and someone bit his arm, the station reports.

Kuchta told police they were messing around, according to court records.

She is being held in Porter County Jail without bond. -KING-

50 Cent Asks What If, "Banks Would Have Sold 5 Mil If I Was In Jail"

Photobucket

G-Unit's 50 Cent recently shared his input on Lil Wayne and what could have made Lloyd Banks' record sales soar.

50 believes Weezy's protege, Drake, reached early success because he served time behind bars last year.

"It's impossible to make that guy disappear when his light shines as bright as his does," 50 said referring to Lil Wayne. "I think [Lloyd] Banks would have sold 5 mil if I was in jail during the period when his album was released. It was a way for a Wayne fan to be just a Drake fan during that time." (VIBE)

Last summer, 50 said Wayne was borrowing Jay-Z's style.

A lot of things in music/entertainment are recycled. It's gonna sound like a diss, but it's no disrespect that you would see Lil Wayne wear a little black vest and that hat. I saw Cyndi Lauper wearing that; it was [just] on a different artist. And even the glasses that Jay-Z had on, that is Frank Sinatra. These are all iconic pieces coming back." (Rap-Up)

Banks' latest album, The Hunger For More 2, charted in the Top 50 after one week in stores last November.

G-Unit member Lloyd Banks' Hunger For More 2 debuted on the chart this week finding a spot at No. 26. After seven days in stores, the "Punch Line King's" newest solo effort managed to sell 44,500 records. -KING-

50 Feels Betrayed Over Game & Young Buck, "He Turned Around & Told Me To Kiss His Ass"

Photobucket

Rap star 50 Cent recently opened up about former G-Unit members Young Buck and Game plus why he ultimately wished the best for his ex-artists.

According to 50, he had plans to help them reach greater heights during their run in G-Unit.

"Let me explain something to you: If it was up to me there would be G-Unit South. Young Buck would be running that. I told him to run with that. When I did that, it was for him to present himself as a bigger artist to the Southern community. Game -- I wish nothing but the best for Game. As far as Black Wall Street is concerned, he did that prematurely. Then he turned around and told me to kiss his a**. If you can interpret that as me trying to keep them under my wing, that's just a f*cked-up interpretation." (VIBE)

Buck's legal woes hit the Internet in early March.

A notorious rapper from Nashville is in trouble again. Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, is facing federal charges for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Channel 4 was the only station in federal court Monday afternoon when the rapper was brought in in handcuffs to appear before the judge. As the indictment spells out, these latest charges could mean ten years in prison. He's now facing federal charges. According to an indictment unsealed Monday, he's charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a .40-caliber pistol and ammunition. Federal authorities say all this happened on or about Aug. 3 -KING-

Soulja Boy Blames Interscope For Disappointing Album Sales

Photobucket

Soulja Boy spoke with getRICHbuyGUNS recently about the lackluster reception of his third studio album The Deandre Way and how internal disagreements with Interscope influenced the album's disappointing record sales. The young rapper asserts that the timing of the album was not good. While he wanted to release the effort in July 2010, it dropped in November, over five months after its first and most successful lead single "Pretty Boy Swag" hit the radio.

"Honestly, I shut down for a week [after my album dropped]," He told GRBG. "I wasn’t talking to nobody, I wasn’t talking to management, and I wasn’t talking to the label. I wasn’t picking up nobody’s calls. I went like that for a week. I was in a state of confusion. I needed answers…the label only shipped like 18,000 copies [of the album]. So I wasn’t able to do gold first week or even 100k, none of that. They only put like 8,000 units in Best Buy. It was crazy."

He said he felt helpless because communication with Interscope was lacking, and he believed the label failed to listen to him. He claims that his souring relationship with producer and mentor Mr. Collipark (who did no production work on the album) gave him less power to negotiate with record execs.

"When I first started it was Soulja Boy and Collipark. But after my label Stacks On Deck Money Gang Records was established and I started making all these different moves, I started to become a businessman. My label was taking off and I guess I was putting more time and energy into that, then to Collipark. He wasn’t feeling that and it just went left. He wanted me to be all for Collipark. So during the third album, I didn’t have him there to be able to tell the label to ship 500,000 the first week, or put the single on the radio, or we need this song. So I was basically out there by myself, just hoping the label will do the best they can."

Although the two have since made amends, Soulja Boy says that if it weren't for 50 Cent, who is featured on The Deandre Way, he would have quit rapping.

"[50] was like, 'You’ve got to keep doing what you’re doing. You’re Soulja Boy, you’re here for a reason. Everybody’s not going platinum. Everybody didn’t do what you did. Everybody didn’t come in on the Internet. You’re the one that started the Internet. You’re the one that got me on the Internet. You’re the one that got us on blogs, on YouTube, and on Twitter.’ I was like, ‘Man, you know what? You’re right.’ He wasn’t doing nothing but speaking true knowledge to my head and it got me right back in the studio. So I ain’t going to never quit. I’m going to stay in this music industry. I’m going to stay making hits, and I’m going to do what I’ve got to do, and I thank 50. I really needed that at that time." -KING-

Cali Teacher Couple Lures Student Home With Booze and Rape Him … Repeatedly

Photobucket

A crazed couple in California have been arrested for baiting a former student to their home with food, liquor and their hot tub? The two teachers allegedly coaxed the boy, then 17-years-old, to get into their hot tub naked and, from that point, the abuse went on for a year. These two nasties have been charged with oral copulation with a minor, sodomy with a person under the age of 18, unlawful sexual intercourse and possession of child pornography … because, in true pedophile fashion, they took pictures.

Two married teachers from California have been charged with molesting and taking naked photos of a 17-year-old boy after plying him with booze, according to police.

Daniel Alma Shepard, 62, and his wife Gay Davidson-Shepard, 59, allegedly lured the teen to their home with promises of alcohol, food, movies, and trips to their hot tub.

The Huntington Beach couple was arrested on Wednesday and charged with multiple felony counts including oral copulation of a minor and sodomy with a person younger than 18.

In addition, Davidson-Shepard was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse and her husband with possession of child pornography.

The sex acts occurred on a weekly basis between April and December 2009. At the time, Alma Shepard was a biology teacher at Westminster High
School and Davidson-Shepard taught at Mesa View Middle School, according to the Orange County Register.

Prosecutors said Alma Shepard met the alleged victim while he was a student at Westminster High School.

The couple sexually assaulted the boy for the first time after they allegedly got into their hot tub naked in April 2009 and encouraged the teen to do the same.

The teen told his mother what happened last month and she contacted police.

If convicted Alma Shepard faces up to five years behind bars while his wife faces up to eight years and four months. They posted $150,000 bail on Thursday.

As appalling as this story is, you have to wonder – at 17-years old you know when you’re being molested, abused and sexually assaulted – so why continue to return to the scene of the crime … every weekend … for a year? There’s clearly more to this story. SMH.  -KING-

5 Women Found Dead, Naked, And With Their Throats Slashed At Beach Resort In Acapulco

Photobucket

Shit Is Real In Mexico:

Five women, all apparently connected to a beauty parlor, were found brutally murdered in the Mexican beach resort of Acapulco on Saturday morning, state police said. The semi-naked and bound bodies of two women and a 14-year-old girl were discovered in the salon in the early hours of Saturday morning. All three had their throats slashed.

Police later found the corpses of another two women with cut throats dumped in the streets. Mexican media said both victims worked at the beauty parlor. No motive was given for the killings. Acapulco, famed in the 1960s as a glamorous haunt for Hollywood stars, has been convulsed by drug violence in recent months as powerful cartels battle for smuggling routes, prompting the United States to warn tourists against visiting the downtown center of the resort.

Mexican officials have been anxious to downplay the impact of the violence on tourism, one of the country’s main foreign exchange earners, pointing out that the number of visitors arriving in Mexico has continued to rise in recent years. Spreading drug violence that killed more than 15,000 people last year has prompted foreign governments to issue a number of travel warnings for parts of Mexico. -KING-

61 Year-Old Man Stomped To Death In Front Of His Home

Photobucket

Damn, so that’s what’s going on now? Beating senior citizens to death?? SMH

A 61-year-old Bronx man was stomped to death in front of his home early yesterday when he got mixed up in a fight between a crazed man and a woman, police said.

Quentin Guerrero, 61, was attacked at 1:30 a.m. in front of 480 E. 138th St. in Mott Haven by ex-con Kendall Major, 35, and his girlfriend, Tosheba Alford, 20, authorities said.

“It was brutal. It was terrible,” said a 47-year-old livery cabdriver who tried to break up the fight.

“There were a lot of people watching from their windows and no one was doing anything.”

Oscar Porata, 58, who lives on the block, said: “I heard a loud thump, like someone hitting the floor, and that’s when I looked out and saw someone unconscious on the ground.”

The couple was in a cab when they started arguing and hopped out near where Guerrero was standing, sources said.

When Guerrero, a former Verizon technician, tried to speak with Alford, things turned sour, the sources added.

Alford attacked Guerrero and Major kicked him repeatedly, said the cabby.

Guerrero was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he died.

Major and Alford, who live together in Far Rockaway, Queens, were charged with murder.

We’re glad that the police charged both of these two with the murder. We’ve heard a lot of ignorant behavior in our day, but this sh*t right here…  -KING-

Gucci Mane Arrest Details Emerge; Woman Ejected For Refusing Proposition

Atlanta, Georgia rapper Gucci Mane was arrested on Friday (04/08/11) for pushing a woman out of a moving vehicle earlier this year, according to new reports. Hollywood Reporter obtained this information after speaking with DeKalb County Police for confirmation of the alleged incident.

Gucci allegedly threw the victim out of the moving car in January, after she rejected a $150 proposition to check-in at a nearby motel. The woman met Gucci on the same day at a local mall, where they agreed to leave for breakfast.

The woman only suffered soreness and pain and had to check in at a hospital. Gucci has been charged with violation of probation and misdemeanor battery and had to check in at Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office.

This is not the first time Gucci has been involved with legal woes. He served time in prison for violating parole in the past and was arrested last year for driving on the wrong side of the road. This year, Gucci checked into a mental facility after claiming mental incompetency for a series of legal problems.

Fake Kush And Blow Landing Thousands In The Hospital

The number of people who have been treated for symptoms related to synthetic weed and cocaine in the first three months of this year is almost half as many people treated in all of last year.

At the request of the AP, the American Association of Poison Control Centers analyzed nationwide figures on calls related to synthetic drugs. The findings showed an alarming increase in the number of people seeking medical attention.

At least 2,700 people have fallen ill since January, compared with fewer than 3,200 cases in all of 2010. At that pace, medical emergencies related to synthetic drugs could go up nearly fivefold by the end of the year.

“Many of the users describe extreme paranoia,” said Dr. Mark Ryan, director of the Louisiana Poison Center. “The recurring theme is monsters, demons and aliens. A lot of them had suicidal thoughts.”

The recent surge in activity has not gone unnoticed by law enforcement and elected officials.

The Drug Enforcement Administration recently used emergency powers to outlaw five chemicals found in synthetic pot, placing them in the same category as heroin and cocaine.

But manufacturers are quick to adapt, often cranking out new formulas that are only a single molecule apart from the illegal ones.

On Wednesday, the Senate’s Caucus on International Narcotics Control held a hearing in Washington to discuss curbing the growth of synthetics.

“This is a whole new method of trafficking,” testified Joseph T. Ranznazzisi, deputy assistant administrator in the DEA’s office of diversion control. “We’ve never experienced this before, when the product is just on the shelf.”

Rozga implored lawmakers to act swiftly to prevent more deaths: “We are not doing enough, and we are not moving quickly enough.”

In the United States, fake marijuana was last year’s big seller, marketed under brands such as “K2″ or “Spice.” This year, the trend is “bath salts” with names like “Purple Wave” and “Bliss.”

Besides being cheap and easily obtained, they do not show up in common drug tests.

Synthetic marijuana typically involves dried plant material sprayed with one of several chemical compounds, most of which were created by a Clemson University scientist for research purposes in the 1990s. The compounds were never tested on humans.

It’s packaged to look like pot, and users typically smoke it, but experts say the high is more comparable to cocaine or LSD.

The bath salts are crystalized chemicals that are snorted, swallowed or smoked. They contain two powerful stimulants: methylenedioxypyrovalerone (or MDPV) and mephedrone, which mimic cocaine, LSD and methamphetamine.

So far in 2011, poison control centers have received nearly 1,300 calls about synthetic pot, compared with 2,874 calls for all of last year, according to the poison control center data.

Poison calls for bath salts rose at an even greater rate. The centers took 301 calls in all of 2010, but had more than 1,400 for the first three months of 2011. Most of the calls came from doctors and nurses reporting patients in emergency rooms.

The moral of the story here kids: any drug somebody has to MAKE can potentially kill you. SMH.

Lil Wayne's Security Busted For Playing Mr. Officers

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne's security have reportedly caught fire and been arrested for impersonating police officers following an Indiana concert.

Details of the incident landed across the Internet Thursday (April 14).

Using flashing lights and sirens to escort the tour bus of rapper Lil Wayne has landed two Indianapolis security guards in legal trouble. Ronald Harrod and Larry Richardson have been arrested and charged with impersonating police for the alleged act as they led a group of buses with the rapper and his entourage from Assembly Hall in Bloomington to a nightclub. Bloomington police allege the two were in an unmarked Ford Crown Victoria and wearing clothes that looked like police uniforms with gun belts. (WCSI News)

Prior to reaching their destination, Wayne's security were stopped by actual police.

Officers talked to Richardson, who was driving the Crown Victoria. He was wearing a police-style uniform with sergeant stripes and a sewn-on officer badge. He also had a side arm, and in his car were a dashboard computer, handcuffs and a police interceptor. Officers asked him for ID, and he admitted he wasn't a police officer. But, he said, he worked for a security company and had credentials to conduct an escort. Harrod was driving the Intrepid. He was wearing a police-style shirt and jacket and had a gun belt with a handgun and handcuffs. Harrod told police he worked for the security company and thought he could drive with his lights on. Police discovered his license was suspended. (IDS News)

The men in question claim they reportedly had clearance to escort Wayne out.

Lil Wayne was in Bloomington to perform at Tuesday's Little 500 kick-off at Indiana University. Police say Richardson led a caravan of tour buses in a car that had flashing red and blue lights and sirens blaring. Harrod was behind the caravan in another car that also had red and blue flashing lights. Bloomington Police Department Capt. Joe Qualters says the men said they had permission and credentials to drive with lights and sirens. (The Republic)

Outside of his security enforcement, Wayne recently dismissed rumors claiming he was dating his stylist.

"Everybody out there owe somebody a real big apology. This Marissa right here, this is my stylist," Wayne said in a video. "See, this is the reason I'm flyer than all you n*ggas, you understand? This is my stylist, she's been my stylist for years...There's a rumor out right now saying this is my girl 'cause I had my arm around her. My arm is around her right now, my arm is always around her, this is my dude. This is my homie right here. And all them little things you saying that [she's] a cougar and all that, we not with that over there."

FBI Names Eazy-E And 2Pac As Extortion Targets In Unsealed File

The N.W.A. family tree looms large, and you can easily connect the dots between many of today’s emcees and Eazy-E, MC Ren, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and even DJ Yella. But a recently unsealed FBI document links both Eazy-E and Tupac Shakur to an alleged extortion attempt by the Jewish Defense League. As with many redacted government documents, many key names were omitted.

“On September 11, 1996 [omitted] reported that JDL, and others yet unidentified have been extorting money from various rap music stars via death threats,” the report states. “The scheme involves [omitted] and other subjects making telephonic death threats to the rap star. Subjects then intercede by contacting the victim and offering protection for a ‘fee’. Source reported that ERIC WRIGHT, also known as EAZY-E, who owned RUTHLESS RECORDS, Woodland Hills, California, was a victim of this extortion scheme prior to dying from AIDS. [Omitted] had also reportedly targeted TUPAC SHAKUR prior to his recent murder in Las Vegas, Nevada.”

This is not the first time there has been a connection between Ruthless and the JDL. Ruthless co-founder Jerry Heller said he enlisted help from the organization when he and Eazy-E were allegedly physically threatened into releasing artists from the label. Heller also mentioned the connection in his memoir, Ruthless.

“Eric Wright had a questing, restless mind,” Heller wrote. “He was always surprising me. ‘I want to do a movie about the JDL,’ he told me shortly before his death. He always had a hundred ideas going at once. He was obsessed with the Jewish Defense League and their motto, 'Never again.' 'Man, I can't get that out of my head,' he said. ‘Never again.’ That's dope.’”

In may of 1999, the FBI closed a two-and-a-half-year investigation on the JDL, citing an inability to corroborate the source information that spawned the probe. The FBI document also links Shakur and other unidentified victims to a separate extortion attempt by “a known organized crime figure,” whose name is omitted from the public version of the report.

“On October 17, 1996, a preliminary inquiry was initiated at Los Angeles Field Office to corroborate source information that [omitted], a known organized crime figure, along with a group of unidentified individuals were utilizing death threats in the furtherance of extortion attempts targeted towards two former prominent rap musicians from the Los Angeles area and other victims yet unidentified,” the report reads.
